4WD Water Tanks

Choose a 4WD water tank by where it mounts

Tuff Terrain 4WD water tanks are moulded polyethylene and made for Australian touring. The right one depends on the space you've got free: the spare wheel mount, the rear footwell, the ute tub wall, or under a tray or camper.

What to check before you buy

  • Spare wheel tanks: you need a free underbody spare mount. The 108mm centre hole suits spare winches up to 145mm, with four extra mounting holes 500mm apart. Keep at least 50mm between the tank and the exhaust, and add a heat shield where clearance is tight. Internal baffles cut water surge on rough tracks.
  • Footwell tank: the central recess sits over the raised section in the rear footwell.
  • Vertical tank: at 75mm thick it sits flush against a tub or canopy wall. Measure your tub width between the wheel arches first.
  • Filling: the 40L, 42L and 45L tanks take the straight filler kit. There's also a curved filler kit for other mounting positions.
  • Running water: the 1/2" BSP brass outlets on the footwell, vertical and flat tanks connect to common fittings and 12V pumps, such as our 12V water pump.
  • Installation: we recommend a qualified installer for under-vehicle, footwell and flat-mount tanks.
