Tuff Terrain Deluxe 9K Recovery & Air Down Kit brings together ropes, straps, shackles and tyre gear to sort most 4x4 recovery jobs. The 9,000kg kinetic rope handles stuck vehicles on sand or mud, as its stretch takes the hit out of tugs between recovery points. The 28,900kg static rope works as a short bridle or extension, meaning you can hook up to anchors that sit off to the side.

Soft shackles in the kit replace steel shackles, which cuts down loose metal around the snatch zone. The tree trunk strap and winch extension strap give extra reach to anchors further away, to keep vehicles on firmer ground when you pull. The tyre deflator set sorts pressures fast and evenly, so you get out there from the bush to the beach with grip dialled in.

Q: Can I use this kit with any 4x4?

A: You can use the kit with most 4x4s that have correctly rated recovery points and hitches. The working limits of the gear must always exceed the vehicle weight and expected recovery loads. Always check the rating tags on the ropes, straps and shackles. Match them to or above the Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of the 4x4.

Q: Do I still need a winch if I buy this kit?

A: The kit works with or without a winch. The kinetic rope and soft shackles handle many snatch-style recoveries between vehicles. The static rope, tree trunk strap and winch ring add options if a winch is fitted. A winch increases control on steep or technical terrain but is not mandatory for using the kit.

Q: How should I store the recovery gear between trips?

A: Store all ropes, straps and shackles dry inside the supplied gear bag. Dry storage helps prevent mildew on webbing and keeps labels readable. Avoid sharp edges or chemicals that may damage fibres. After muddy trips, rinse gear with clean water and air-dry before packing.

Q: Are the tyre deflators preset to a fixed pressure?

A: The quick connect tyre deflators are adjustable. You set each valve to the pressure you want before use. Once dialled in, they repeatedly drop tyres to that pressure. Always double-check final pressures with a tyre gauge after use.

Q: Can the soft shackles replace all my steel bow shackles?

A: Soft shackles can replace many steel shackles where recovery points have smooth, rounded edges. They reduce hard metal in the system and are light to pack. Do not use them on sharp or damaged mounts. Replace any soft shackle that shows fraying or heat damage.
