Q: Can I mount the bracket on the driver side instead?
A: No, this bracket suits the passenger side bonnet mounts only. The hole spacing and bends match that side on Prado 120 and GX 470 models. A driver side fit would misalign the hardware. Use only on the specified side to keep the bracket seated correctly and to avoid stressing the bonnet panel.
Q: Will this bracket interfere with bonnet opening and closing?
A: The bracket uses existing bonnet mounting points outside the hinge path. That layout keeps the hinge motion clear. When installed correctly the bonnet opens and closes in its normal arc. Always check clearance around aerial cables before final tightening.
Q: Do I need to repaint any cut metal after installation?
A: No drilling into the bonnet is required, so factory paint stays intact. The bracket itself carries a black powder coat layer. Any minor marks on nearby paint from tool slips should be touched up with suitable automotive paint to prevent corrosion.
Q: Can I fit a heavy spring-base antenna to this bracket?
A: The bracket supports common UHF whip and spring bases used on touring 4WDs. Very large or extra tall masts may apply higher leverage. Always check the antenna manufacturer’s recommendations and inspect the bonnet frame area for movement after your first few drives on rough roads.
